My brother found this old film we have not seen in years called The Phantom Tollbooth. I had forgotten ever watching this flick, but instantly remembered the characters once seeing them again. Quite a nice movie.

I just watched all the Resident Evil movies (again). Call it a guilty pleasure, but I really like 'em.

I've recently discovered Two Steps From Hell. Their videogame score-style music is appealing to me.

One of the most awesome techno tracks in existence. From one of the most awesome cartoon shows ever.

Going through Season 1 of the Spectacular Spider-Man, which is to me the acme of good Spider-Man, thoroughly enjoying the action-packed wisecracking episodes.
Also saw Hugo, which feels a lot like John Lassetter's Cars - a movie made because the director had a hobby about which he wanted to make a movie and share with other people that had the same hobby. Lassetter likes old cars while Scorsese likes old movies. It's a decent film but it definitely looks like the studio got conned into doing what they thought would be a children's film but it doesn't at all come across as one that would appeal to kids of today's generation. In fact I can't think of it having great appeal to anyone outside of people that enjoy catching references to the history of cinema.

Just finished watching Hugo myself and enjoyed it quite a bit. No, I don't suppose it would appeal to kids much but I never thought about that angle.

Also watched Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and did not like it that much. Ultimately closer to a horror film than anything else. The hype machine seems to have it billed as an action/suspense movie (and the Trent Reznor immigrant song freaked up intro reinforces that) but the movie does not live up to that AT ALL IMHO. I think the Reznor intro was probably the highlight and it was downhill from there.

Though I now slowly give it back I still appreciate the loan.

Watched all of Season 1 of The Spectacular Spider-Man series and I thought it was on the whole awesome. Full of action, witty one-liners and a cracking pace...in short, everything the movies weren't.

Now halfways through Season 2 of Spectacular Spider-Man and goddammit, it's still awesome. Even with returning baddies they find ways to stage the standoffs that don't seem repetitive, and the Spidey v/s Venom conflict in Ep7 was absolutely...well, spectacular.
Apart from that I watched To Catch a Thief, Monty Python and The Holy Grail and Evil Dead 2 on BD

@Wyrmlord: Well, there goes LOTR, Lawrence of Arabia, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Gone With the Wind, The Best Years of Our Lives, The Right Stuff, Jaws, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Jurassic Park, Saving Private Ryan, Schindler's List, Aliens, Terminator 2, The Dark Knight, Inception, The Sound of Music, West Side Story, and on and on.

You'll be missing a lot of good movies if you can't tolerate any cinematic experience over 120 minutes.

Right now, I'm watching all the episodes of Monty Python's Flying Circus in consecutive order (again).

127 Hours...Danny Boyle spinning out, in utterly compelling fashion, a story which initially doesn't seem spin-outable.

Saw Prometheus in 3D at the local IMAX cinema today. I don't think I ever want to see this film again because the story is an awkward tacking on of the "Extra-terrestrials made US" idea to the "B-horror with an A-budget" experience that is the Alien franchise, and most of the characters aren't particularly interesting or memorable. But the movie has a great sense of scale in the visuals and if you want to see it, try and catch it on a large screen at a cinema reputed for good 3D to get the maximum enjoyment value. Unlike the bright and crisp Avatar, Prometheus is in most parts a dimly lit film so if the cinema projection is not up to the mark it will be very disappointing.

To my dismay, I found out my gf had never seen The Godfather, so we watched the first one last saturday night.
