This is an off-shoot of the Worst Games you've ever played topic, but I'm curious, did you all ever have little guilty pleasure games that you enjoyed but not many others did? I know this has been asked before but I think its interesting. Anyway my little list:
Cyberbykes: Shadow Racer VR
Baldies
Postal 2 (One of my alltime favorites)
Creature Shock
Mario's Missing
Captain Comic
Arcanum
fizzak

Warzone 2100 I loved this game but everyone else thought it sucked.
Deadly Dozen 2. The reviewers trashed it. Loved the game and MP was a blast.

Star Wars Galaxies. It just grabbed me for some reason, especially with the JTL expansion. I love how all the systems and classes interact and depend on each other. The crafting is the best I've seen. Main problem with it is the ground combat isn't particularly fun especially in PvP, which this being Star Wars is a big problem.

I'm willing to bet no more than a small handful of you have ever played Nethack (my all time favorite).

I loved Command & Conquer: Sole Survivor. It got unjustly panned in the media, but oh well.
I also really enjoyed HL:Blue Shift and Army Men.

I'm with zauggru as far as Force Commander is concerned... I really didn't think it was as awful as everyone made out. It might be something to do with my being a rabid Star Wars fan, but I do know that I tend to persevere and not get frustrated with things that would seriously annoy others- I accepted the interface that everyone called hideous for what it was. The camera didn't bother me, it was just the way the game worked. The horrible pathfinding was problematic, but by clicking repeatedly whenever a unit got stuck, I could get over it. Unacceptable for the average gamer, but it didn't bother me. Granted, I don't know if I'd be so forgiving of a game now that is similar but doesn't carry the Star Wars name.
What I really liked about it was the attention to detail in places. The fact that you could put any Humanoid character on a bike. The fact that on the Tatooine missions, you can see podracers zooming round. The fact that during the Coruscant missions, you could angle the camera up and catch a glimpse of the floating platform that featured in episode 1, along with other flying units. The fact that you could zoom right into the action. The fact that the sounds were perfectly like the movie.
That really made up for the game's bad points for me.

Gore: The Ultimate Soldier
Has to be Soldiers for me, noone else seems to 'get' it but for me its one of the most amazingly underrated games out there. Still playing it 6 months later albeit in a weekly MO session but still has that wow factor everytime I play.

For me it lasted a while in beta.. and through the free trial final... it got kinda..re-pe-ti-ti-ve.. and lets not forget the lag in the 'large scale battles' av_smile.gif
I still fondly remember the adverse FPS that was introduced in final... =)
But I had fun.. for a while..

Dunno about you guys, but I too enjoyed:
Postal 2
Baldies
Warzone 2100
Battlezone 2
Postal 2 I noticed was a pretty bad game, but it was insanely fun. Baldies was just weird, and I like it like that. What scared me is that you dump a bunch 5 bald men into a house and 6 come out? av_eek.gif
Warzone 2100 was a pretty cool game, I really liked it, how you can really pump out the units. I hated how there was a time limit, though.
Battlezone 2 is just great. I don't see why reviewers trashed it so much! Most of the problems I noticed were there in BZ1 also (ie. shoddy AI?). Did you know there's a beta patch out, HERE (http://www.planetbattlezone.com) that makes the game run good in Windows XP, and adds a whole tonne of fixes?

MDK & MDK2, Septerra Core, Wizardry 8
I actually think that if both MDK games had been bought by more than about eight people, they would've been pretty popular.
*Raises hand as being one of the eight to buy MDK.*
Warzone 2100, MoonBase Commander, Uprising, Metal Fatigue.
Great games that far too few played.

I've got 2 copies of MDK. Also 2 copies of Freespace. I'm kinda stupid when shopping, when I bought my 2nd copy of both of those titles I got them at good prices and didn't realize I already owned them until I got home.
In no particular order:
Shadow Company, Warhammer:Dark Omen, Deadly Dozen 1&2, Original War, Eithlords II, Battle Engine Aquila, Moto Racer, I was an Atomic Mutant, Masive Assult, Soldiers heroes of wwII, Freespace 1&2, Draken order of the flame, Requeim(sp?), Moonbase Comander, Magic & Mayhem & Art of Magic, Steel Panthers WWII, Antaeus Rising, Full Throttle. I'm sure there is more but thats all I can think of off the top of my head.

I second Requiem: Avenging Angel and Emperor Battle for Dune. Requiem was a fantastic FPS based on the quake 2 engine. You could raise dead enemies and then have them fight for you. So much fun raising 8 soldiers and having your own little army. And EBFD, that game was just great

All the Marathon based mac games no one else played. ZPC was cool as art, not so much as a game. There was one where you controlled a team of soldiers (this was in like, 1995). Of course the AI totally didn't work. The best was an FPS set in congress, forget what it was called.
Dark Colony-a Warcraft2 ripoff with lots of innovative features that were in turn ripped off by Starcraft.
World War III- bad timing (9/11) for a game featuring suicide bombers, a nice change of pace- modern setting for RTS, looked nice, if the weapons had been modelled more realistically it would have been very cool.
I don't play much RTS but have a knack for ones that don't sell well apparently.

The game where you controlled a team of soldiers was Damage, Inc. I thought it was pretty cool myself at the time, but it did have sucky AI.
The last game you mention I can't remember the name of it either. Secret...something? Oh, I can't remember what it was called.

I just DLed the demo for S:HOWWII
Meh! DIdn't like the controls, guess it just needs some getting used to, has potential.
Alpha i'll post a more detailed description of the game in a new thread. Just give me a while to pen it together. Key thing is they didn't include a tutorial with the demo which was a bad call in my own view.
You generally play the game controlling one unit or armour at a time, using the others to either spot or cover for you. The end key takes you in direct charge of a unit and then the arrow keys allow you to move him around (I have them remapped to wasd). The middle mouse controls the camera. Their is a fix which frees the camera - not tried the below as the retail fix is slightly different
http://community.codemasters.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=40103&highlight=camera
Other than that out of direct mode (hit end key again) remember your units can pick up the fuel cans and refuel the tank and generally interact with items. x key allows you to view contents of tank and find repair kits etc.
I hated the demo - but luckily paid attention to a friend who was raving about the game.

Chalk me up for Silent Storm.
One of the best games released since UFO XCOM (*AGA* Version of course)
Silent Storm was indeed fantastic, but both it and its successor Sentinels were marred by some stupid, stupid design decisions.
I quit Sentinels when I got to the subway mission. Stupidest idea ever.

Bandits: Phoenix Rising is one of my all time favorites. I'm a Mad Max enthusiast so this one was very welcome. Excellent voice acting by Alan Manson as scottish dwarf Rewdalf. I also liked Armed and Dangerous for it's incredibly sarcastic humour ánd the nice british, scottish and East End accents.
And you could chalk me up fer both Gunman Chronicles and MDK2 too. Played through them again and again. I still fall off my chair laughing my head off in the first Doc Hawkins level where you've got to use a self-made garden-vac to toss around some aliens and feed them to a gargantuan Venus Fly Trap named Ernie or something av_biggrin.gif

I would have to say every installment of the Romance of Three Kingdoms series...every friend I have has frowned at me for buying and enjoying that game. Where else can u start as a lowly nobody, to an officer, warlord, prefect, viceroy or a liege. And the multiple endings all depend on how you played the game. The ability to build relationships, utilize strategy, go to war, your decisions really affected the outcome of how the game went.
