Personally, it sounds like he was attempting to make some sort of weird point about "words" (maybe like Carlin), but it didn't come out exactly right.

Checking what he said, from Wikipedia, I think it's clear that the man is borderline racist.

Explain one thing to me. On the surface, it seems that America is a tolerant of diversity, and then incidents occur which tell that racism still exists. Why?

It was pretty clear to me that he was trying to be edgy. Problem about edges is that you can walk them or you can walk off them, which is what he seems to have done.

What always baffles me is that he can say the same thing that people of other color can say but he is a racist. Hell he probably is a racist but still why is it okay for some to say n***** and if others say it they are a damn racist? Carlos Mencia is one of the funniest comedian around but damn he uses every slur and stereotype around and no one says a word about him. Is he a racist? I doubt it but still different standard for different people. And in our current PC world the white man can't say much before he is tagged a racist.

Anthony, consider the things he said. How is he not racist?

Carlos Mencia is not funny, he is one of the worst comedians to achieve popularity in the past 5 years. Just thinking about him makes me angry.

Mencia is a hack. A talentless hack. He doesn't offend me, he doesn't make me think any deeper, he doesn't make me realize anything about equality. He just insults my intelligence with his psuedo-righteous belligerent garbage.

Though to separate him from Kramer there, Mencia doesn't use his shtick in an angry, genuinely insulting manner. That's what differentiates what Michael Richards did from what all the other (successful) race-joke comedians do.

Mencia simply repeats stereotypes without any context and somehow people find it funny. Mindblowing. Sometimes the stereotypes aren't even real. Paraphrase of a commercial of his: "How come when white people go wine tasting it's 'civilized' but when blacks do it they're drunks??"

THOSE AREN'T STEREOTYPES YOU USELESS HACK.

Ahem....carry on.

If Mencia is funny or not is a matter of taste. Is he a racist? He is just one example of using slurs and stereotypes to be funny. Chappelle does the same thing (admittedly he is much more creative). I guess I understand that when you use racial slurs as a joke it is okay but if you were using it in anger it is not. Like I said Richard is probably a racist. I personally get tired of comedians who use racial slurs as the bases of their jokes. In fact I get tired of those who think dropping the f bomb makes them funny. To me it makes them lazy. I have satellite radio and after listening the the comedy channels for a few months I find very few comedians funny. Most are boring at best.

I think it's safe to say that funny comedians are funny, but comedians who aren't funny can easily become offensive.

This dude hasn't been funny since UHF.
