Opinions?

I like it.

I thought the previous plans, while imposing and avant garde, split the opinions of too many people. It looked weird from certain angles, didn't evoke the old WTC towers, the memorial space was poorly-planned and universally panned by many people, didn't meet security concerns, caused squabbling within the planning committee and was just plain over-budget.

This one is still over-budget, but it's more grounded in reality and has a better chance of bringing everyone together again.

My very humble opinions. av_smile.gif

It'd be great if they finished on Sept 11 of 09.

I like the design. I thought there were two better options when the designs were all first revealed a while back, but this is an improvement.

I think it's a really stupid idea that would only find support by Americans (of course). The WTC were just skyscrapers, they were not the statue of the liberty, you don't have to replace them with something even more monstrous just so you can feed your huge ****ing ego. This is not the way to show respect to the dead, although it's useful so rednecks can Yee-Haw a little bit and go on with their lives in a more orderly fashion.

I like Trump's idea better.

And it wasn't just a skyscraper it was an icon and it turned into a giant tombstone.

Looks nice, but I swear, if they actually call it the "Freedom tower"...

I just think the word 'freedom' has been thrown around far too much lately, and out of context. Plus the fact that I think "freedom x" just sounds odd. av_smile.gif

But I think Americans could be forgiven for wanting a good memorial to the worst terrorist attack in the history of their country, mmm? I know I would.

I don't want to have to move a thread like this to heated.
