I'm going away for awhile, not knowing if or when I'll be back. graemlins/av_ohmy.gif

1. My PC is getting wiped down this Saturday.
2. New developements at work, and home, will determine my hobby and it's usefullness to me.
3. #2 will also determine the time I have to even look at a PC let alone use one.

(some other threads I've posted in would show nothing of this new developement, but I also tried to keep things on topic in whatever thread it was, plus it took waiting on a phone call to really know and I wasn't gonna go talking about it without knowing for sure)

But alas, I shall try to stay around. Been here since AVAULT started.................

Bah! He's probably off to see if he can get himself irretrievably stuck in the mud somewhere.

I KNOW! You're taking your Jeep to Mars to see how it holds up against that notorious sand!

Well everyone, I greatly appreciate your posts.

I kind of feel stupid for saying it, but it now seems that I put this topic up prematurely.

The "deal" that I was waiting on didn't turn out to be what I was hoping.

The company I work at got bought out by a russian company about 1 1/2 years ago during our Chapter 11. After awhile, talks of an "employee exchange" program, just like a student exchange, started months ago. I signed up to see what the details were gonna be. Early speculation was 2 years in russia working at thier mill. Benefits and stuff would still be in affect, and I would still keep my home here and stuff, just work over thier for 2 years. We have a few bussiness 'programs' in effect that have been going on in the russian mills for years, ways of doing things, stuff like that. Having an exchange thingy was just another idea to help facilitate the same type of bussiness practice's in both of the companies mills, here and over in russia.

Well all that turned out true, but the pay issue got real stupid. Basically, if I had no kids or wasn't married, it would be fine. But my wife leaving her job(and having no pay), along with a cut in pay for myself, turned it into a crappy deal. I would not get paid enough to keep my home here, have my wife and kid either with me or at home, and still have stuff work out.

I would be paid on the same scale as the russians are, not an equally translated pay rate from USA-Russia. That alone would have been fine had I not had my family and had a smaller house. And being apart from my wife and 2yr old for a volunteer for 2 yrs, no thanks.

Financially it wasn't worth it, and personally, the seperation for 2 yrs had she and the kid stayed.........no.

So alas, I'm still gonna be a mill-rat as I have been for the last couple of years. Sorry to have put up the premature post. But it did look like it was gonna happen until I got the final details. And the stupid thing is, the whole money issue didn't get settled until today, expecting the whole thing to happen in less than a month. (someone had no idea of a realistic timeframe for a person to prepare for this av_eek.gif )

Anyway, my PC will be shut down and redone starting tomorrow, so in a way I will still be "gone" for awhile. Just not like I thought I'd be. graemlins/av_cheesygrin.gif

So, you were a bit premature, eh, shoboy? Well, don't worry about it. Happens to the best of us. Well, ok, not to me of course but I know it does with others. graemlins/av_cheesygrin.gif

Glad to hear that although it was not great news, it wasn't bad news.

It was this quote that had me worried.
will determine my hobby and it's usefullness to me.Scarey stuff av_razz.gif

Had I even been able to take a PC with me, the fiorst few months would be spent getting to know where the hell I was at and what is around. Then, if the family went with me (as planned), I couldn't very well just play games so soon being in a new country.

Believe me, I was ****ed about not getting into Guild Wars, having made a post about it and contimplating it day after day.

But the "deal" turned out to be crap, so I'll pass. I know a few guys who are taking it, single with nothing going on to tie them here for the next 2 years. We'll see how it turns out for them...............
